Who is your Favorite Hip-Hop Villain? PT 1
For 20 plus years Hip-Hop has gravitated and in the process managed to make its mark in Hollywood. since movies like Kush Groove & Breakin, Hip-Hop managed to create & Recreate some Characters on the silver screen & make for good entertainment.
Some Characters were fictional & some based on real individuals, all the same those that played them brought them to life and also has us going "is he really acting or..."
Movie: Paid In Full
Character: Alpo
Actor: Camron
Just when you thought that urban films had depicted the drug dealing lifestyle that was parallel with Hip-Hop and exhausted it, Rocafella Films teamed up with Dimension's Films to release the cult classic paid in full.
Mecki Pheifer played the role of deceased Harlem re-known Gangster Rich Porter, Wood Harris played AZ & Camron played the ever flamboyant Alpo.
Alpo in true Harlem fashion is credited by some for setting many Harlem related trends and is definitely one of the most important figures in the 80's Crack scene in Harlem.
It only made sense for the Films producers to cast Harlem's own Camron to play the Role of Alpo and call it good acting or just similarities in character but Camron brought a out the character of a local celebrity and put him in the conscious of millions of unfamiliar fans.
Camron played the role so well that when i saw the real Alpo talking i felt like i already knew him. A display of both the charm & equal ruthlessness was very much present and it parallels the stories told about Alpo by those that knew him well.

Actor: Tupac
When "Tupacalypse Now" (Tupac's 1st Album) dropped many failed to acknowledge Tupac's intent to highlight the inner city's circumstances & his constant pleas to uplift the black men/woman's spirit. Instead people opted for the gangsterism associated with the west coast scene in the early 90's.
This would all change when Tupac was cast to play the very conflicted & somewhat Psychotic role of Bishop in Ernest R. Dickerson's Juice. It was this very role that would shape Tupacs career and the public perception of him. Much as it was a fictional role Tupac was able to bring Bishop to life and introduce him to an audience that would recent his menacing ways but be captivated by his relentlessness.

Character: God
Actor: LL cool J
When you think villain, " Ladies Love cool James" is not quite what you will be primarily trying to represent that but in 1998 Director Michael Rymer helped bring a hip-hop film different from most in the passed of-course that's not taking away from the consistencies like crime & its effects on the inner city.
"God" of course a name that describes LL's character and how he is perceived by those around him and his community. God doesn't care too much about the means which often involve various brutal methods of enforcement but he is assertive in his ways and takes no BS from anybody.

Crips & Bloods: Made In America [Documentary]
I have been watching this allday & figured i would share with my fellow Hip-Hop ABC family & visitors alike (Felt good saying that.
First of all before i proceed i wanna thank all the HHABC supporters out there.
Just incase you didnt know they are loving us all over the world keep those hits coming maybe somebody can put some real money behind this thing & help get this hip-hop thing back on track.

Next to Blow-"Young Chris" of the Young Gunz
This week I am beginning the new segment " Next to Blow" & this week we are looking at Philadelphia's own Young Chris.
In 2000 When Rocafella was at its best & some of today's vets were the rookies of the time, Chris then a teenager still in high school was riding passenger in the Philly movement with Beanie Sigel, Freeway, Peedi Craak, his partner Neef Buck Oschino & Sparks as the State Property Collective.
Unknown to the mainstream Chris was instrumental in helping thwart any opposition whether towards his Philly affiliates or Rocafella as a whole. Chris began his career embroiled in his Label mates verbal wars whether it was D-Block, Gilly Da Kid, Nas, Jaz-O etc. Anyone who was an enemy of the Roc was included in the verbal assault.
As one half of the Young Guns, Chris enjoyed moderate success with the singles "Cant stop wont stop" "no better love", & was able to drop two albums (Tough Luv, Brother from another) under the Rocafella Umbrella.
Chris has proven over the years that consistency is definitely the Key. Every relevant hip hop site has something Young Chris related & the kid keeps going. Still Maintaining the same circle including his long time partner Neef Buck, Chris has continued to show he deserves a shot. this kind of relentlessness is rare especially in a musical climate such as the one of today that regionally doesn't favor him & just the market as a whole you have got to admire Young Chris's Drive.
Young Chris embraces the comparisons to Jay who he credits for being his inspiration and if you ask a true hip hop head they will tell you Jay Z quietly shares the same sentiment.

Your Favorite Smoking songs Revisited
Hip-Hop and Marijuana use go together like Jay Z and Dame Dash back in the late 90's. For years rappers and various entertainers have professed their affinity for marijuana smoking and produced classic hip-hop joints in the process. I mean for whatever its worth Dr Dre's 1st Solo album was called the chronic.
This next segment is dedicated to the folks that made those hits that made even a non-smoker feel like they were missing out on something.
The Luniz-I Got 5 on it
Yukmouth still doing his thing out west. Unfortunately for Knumbskull he has some legal issues going on but this still goes hard.
Mista Grimm Ft Nate Dogg & Warren G
Lord Knows what happened to Mista Grimm i don't even know if he dropped an album or not, but this song is monumental not only for the smokers but also for Nate Dogg & Warren G who got to shine for the 1st time outside the whole Deathrow realm and show just how talented they were. This song set the tone for numerous collabs between the childhood buddies that wouldresult in over a decade of classic music.

These tow need to be on the Hip-hop weed hall of fame or something, they have got to be the best ambassadors for weed smoking Hip-Hop has ever seen & for that fact alone i will post another video of theirs.

Cypress Hill- Roll it up, Light it up,Smoke it up...(Friday Soundtrack)
Cypress Hill have always been proud of their weed smoking accolades so the decision to include them in the soundtrack to the cult classic friday was definitely a good look. They managed to put the most subject relevant song to the soundtrack.
50 cent-High all the time
Though we later came to find out that 50 has never even smoked a whiff of marijuana he did manage to put together one of the most smoke notable songs of our times.

C-Murder Found Guilty of 2nd Degree Murder
After a whole 7 years of trials,Mistrials a Jury Finaly found Corey "C-Murder" Miller Guilty of 2nd degree rapper. C-Murder once a prominent rap figure and brother to Rap Mogul Master P & Silkk The Shocker is facing a life sentence as a result of the verdict. It is definitely a very unfortunate situation on both ends from the 16 year olds family & also to the Miller family.
